The Bahrain Teachers College (BTC) of the University of Bahrain is a new institute for teacher of education for the K-12 system in the Kingdom of Bahrain. As a core element of the National Education Reform, new programs have been developed in partnership with NIE of Singapore. The bachelor of education program and the pre-service post-graduate diploma program will commence in September 2008.

Successful candidates will join an international, professional team who are currently engaged in designing curricula, policies and practice for a teacher's college that will position the BTC as a leading teachers' college in the region. Members of faculty at the BTC demonstrate strong teaching, research and professional practice in their areas of specialization. They will also work in design and delivery across the full spectrum of academic and outreach programmes, including undergraduate, post-graduate and professional development degree and diploma courses, practica and in-service initiatives. They will contribute to applying and building upon international best practice in all aspects of teacher preparation in cooperation with colleagues from other disciplines, colleges, universities, the Ministry of Education and community agencies. General requirements for all appointments include:-
1. A Ph.D. / equivalent senior credential plus significant experience in a relevant specialization;
2. Qualification in education and/or teaching in a K-12 system is an advantage;
3. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching/supervision at the tertiary level in relevant areas;
4. Experience teaching in undergraduate and post-graduate programmes is an asset;
5. An active research program and a record of publication and/or communication and/or application in appropriate areas;
6. Experience in curriculum development ;
7. Experience working in a bilingual environment (Arabic-English) is an advantage.
